Everything You Need To Know About PUBG Europe League
For PUBG esports enthusiasts, PUBG Europe League is probably one of the biggest esports events to look forward to in 2019. Before the event kickoff on March 21st, here’s everything you need to know about the league.
What is PEL?
PUBG Europe League or PEL is a Tier 1 professional competitive PUBG league in Europe, organized by PUBG Corp. and StarLadder. PEL is divided into three divisions, mainly: PEL, PEL Contenders, and PEL Open. PEL is represented by 16 of Europe’s greatest PUBG teams while PEL Contenders is represented by 32 teams. Amateurs also have a chance to join PEL through the PEL Open.
March 21 is the official start date of PUBG Europe League. The event will be divided into three phases in 2019. Phase 1 Kick-Off will last for 3 gaming weeks with each week consisting of four gaming days and 5 matches for each day. The full schedule of Phase 1 Kick-Off is shown on the image below.
PEL Phase 1 Kick-Off will have six directly invited teams for their insane performance on past PUBG tournaments and ten teams who made through the PEL LAN Qualifiers. Below is the list of the PEL Phase 1 Kick-Off teams.
Unlike Phase 1 Kick-Off, all other remaining phases will have 8 gaming weeks instead of just three. Teams in Phase 2 and Phase 3 will be competing for PEL points to help them secure a slot to international tournaments, held at the end of each Phase. The best teams, based on the results of all 3 phases, will then be competing at the Global Championship.

PEL Relegation System
Since Phase 1 Kick-Off is shorter, no team will leave PEL and no one will join PEL after the phase. Starting from Phase 2, the rules of promotion and relegation will be applied. The 4 lowest ranked teams in Phase 2 and Phase 3 will participate in the PEL Promo, where they compete with 12 best PEL Contenders teams. The top 4 teams from the PEL Promo tournament will advance to PEL next Phase, while the remaining teams will be relegated to the PEL Contenders.
